Noman, Shaheen secure hard fought win over South Africa: 1st Test, Day 4 (Lahore)

Paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi wrapped up the tail as Pakistan sealed a hard-fought 93-run victory over South Africa on the fourth day of the first Test in Lahore, wrapping up the visitors for 183 in pursuit of 277.

The hosts’ spinners dominated once again, with Noman Ali delivering a decisive spell to clinch the win and earn the Player-of-the-Match award.

Earlier, Pakistan’s second-innings total of 167 had set South Africa a challenging target on a wearing pitch. Despite brief resistance from the middle order, South Africa’s chase unraveled under sustained pressure, handing Pakistan a 1-0 lead in the series and capping a strong all-round performance led by their spin attack.

Pakistan 378 and 167 (Babar 42, Muthusamy 5-57, Harmer 4-51) beat South Africa 269 and 183 (Brevis 54, Rickelton 45, Afridi 4-33, Noman 4-79) by 93 runs.
