Maharaj triggers stunning Pakistan collapse: 2nd Test, Day 2 (Rawalpindi)

Spinner Keshav Maharaj took a 7 wicket haul as South Africa clawed their way back into the contest after Pakistan lost their last 5 wickets for just 17 runs on day 2.

Pakistan, resuming on 259 for 5, were bowled out for 333, with Shakeel leading the scoring with 66. The highlight of the morning was a superb spell from Maharaj, who claimed 7 wickets for 112, dismantling Pakistan’s lower order and putting his side back in control.

In reply, South Africa began confidently, with Tristan Stubbs (68) anchoring the innings after early breakthroughs from Pakistan’s bowlers. By stumps, the visitors had reached 185 for 4, still 148 runs behind, with the match evenly poised heading into the third day on a surface beginning to take spin.
