Miserly Johnson restricts Bangladesh, Aussies sweep series: 3rd T20 (Chattogram)

Paceman Spencer Johnson bowled the most economical T20 spell as Australia completed a 3-0 T20I series sweep with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the third and final match at Chattogram.

Batting first, Bangladesh struggled to build partnerships and finished on 109/8 from their 20 overs. Towhid Hridoy played a fighting innings of 61 from 51 balls, but he received little support from the rest of the batting order as Australia’s bowlers maintained tight control throughout.

Spencer Johnson bowled 4 overs for just 6 runs. He and Nathan Ellis were particularly effective, claiming two wickets each to restrict the hosts to a below-par total.

Australia made light work of the chase, with captain Mitchell Marsh leading from the front with a superb unbeaten 60 from just 28 deliveries. Josh Inglis added 17 before Tim David provided the finishing touches as the visitors reached 112/3 in only 11 overs.

The emphatic seven-wicket win completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series and provided Australia with a strong finish to the tour after their 2-1 defeat in the preceding ODI series.

Australia 112 for 3 (Marsh 60) beat Bangladesh 109 for 8 (Hridoy 61*, Johnson 2-6) by seven wickets.
