Kohli, Gill dominate Windies as India chase down 295: 1st ODI (Thiru’puram)

Allrounder Justin Greaves’ century was in vain as India began the three-match ODI series against West Indies with a convincing eight-wicket victory at Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September 2026.

West Indies, after being sent in, posted 295/7 in 50 overs, with Justin Greaves making a fine 101 off 108 balls, while John Campbell contributed 62 and Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 58. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s leading bowler with 4/40.

India’s reply was dominated by Virat Kohli, who struck an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls, and Shubman Gill, who made 110. The pair added a commanding partnership to put India firmly in control before Kohli completed the chase at 300/2 in 41.4 overs.

Kohli’s century was his 55th in ODIs, while India’s emphatic win gave them a 1–0 lead in the series.
