Aaron Finch, dropped on zero, smashed 135 to propel Australia to 342-9 to inflict a 111-run defeat on England in their opening World Cup match.
Mitchell Marsh took 5-33 as England were bowled out for 231 despite an inventive unbeaten 98 from James Taylor.
Australia 342 for 9 (Finch 135, Maxwell 66, Bailey 55, Finn 5-71) beat England 231 (Taylor 98*, Marsh 5-33) by 111 runs.
