Maiden Bairstow ton propels England win: 1st ODI (Manchester)

Jonny Bairstow blasted his maiden one-day international hundred as England beat West Indies by seven-wickets.

Bairstow hit 100 not out from 97 balls after he was promoted ahead of Jason Roy at the top of the order. Root posted 54 as England cruised past the Windies target with 11.1 overs to spare in a match reduced to 42 overs-a-side due to a wet outfield.

Earlier, Chris Gayle hammered 41 from 20 balls but the Windies fell away to post only 204/9.

England 210 for 3 (Bairstow 100*, Root 54) beat West Indies 204 for 9 (Holder 41*, Stokes 3-43) by seven wickets.
