Smith, Wade centuries dominate England: 1st Test, Day 4 (Edgbaston)

Centuries from Steve Smith (142) and Matthew Wade (110) guided Australia to effectively batting England out of the 1st Test.

Australia have made a superb comeback from a lowly 122-8 on Day 1 posting an unassailable lead of 398.

In reply, England had seven overs to face before stumps in a testing period, which they survived unscathed, the score 0-13 as stumps were called.

England 374 and 13 for 0 (Burns 7*, Roy*) need 385 more runs to beat Australia 284 and 487 for 7 dec (Smith 142, Wade 110, Head 51).
