Stokes edges England ahead: 1st Test, Day 1 (Bay Oval)

Allrounder Ben Stokes struck a fifty after tea to edge England ahead of New Zealand on a tense opening day.

Stokes hit an unbeaten 67 against a flagging New Zealand attack after disciplined fifties from Rory Burns and Joe Denly laid the platform.

Allrounder Colin de Grandhomme took 2-28 to contain England to 241-4.

England 241-4: Denly 74, Stokes 67*, De Grandhomme 2-28 vs New Zealand.
