Head blitz sets up win over England: 1st T20 (Southampton)

Opener Travis Head smashed a rapid 19-ball half-century as Australia defeated England by 28 runs at Southampton in the 1st T20.

Head and Matt Short (41) put up 86 runs within the powerplay. Head smashed 30 runs in Sam Curran's fifth over as he raced to 59.

Chasing a target of 189, England stumbled to 46-3. A 54 run partnership between Liam Livingstone (37) and Sam Curran (18) helped England recover but they fell short.

Australia 179 (Head 59, Short 41, Inglis 37, Livingstone 3-22) beat England 151 (Livingstone 37, Abbott 3-28) by 28 runs.
