Cummins rescues Aussies after hot Rauf spell: 1st ODI (MCG)

Australia almost snatched defeat in a moderate run chase before skipper Pat Cummins took the home team to a narrow 2 wicket win over Pakistan at the MCG.

Chasing 203, Australia collapsed to 139-6 in the 21st over as Haris Rauf skittled the middle-order with his pace. Cummins (32*) and Sean Abbott absorbed the pressure and got Australia over the line.

Earlier, Mitchell Starc removed both of Pakistan's openers - Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique - to set the tone for Australia as they restricted the tourists to 203.

Australia 204 for 8 (Inglis 49, Smith 44, Cummins 32*, Rauf 3-67) beat Pakistan 203 (Rizwan 44, Naseem 40, Starc 3-33, Cummins 2-39) by two wickets.
