Sizzling Maxwell fireworks knocks out Pakistan: 1st T20 (Gabba)

Glenn Maxwell lit up the Brisbane sky with a sizzling knock that delivered an easy win over Pakistan in the 1st T20.

Heavy rain reduced the series opener to a seven-overs-a-side contest. Maxwell (43 off 19) smashed the Pakistani bowling to all parts. Allrounder Marcus Stoinis chipped in with 21 off seven balls, including 10 off the final two balls of the innings as Australia finished 93-3.

Pakistan fell short after an early batting collapse. Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis picked up three wickets each as only Abbas Afridi’s unbeaten 20 from 10 balls bolstered the score.

Australia 93 for 4 (Maxwell 43, Stoinis 21*, Afridi 2-9) beat Pakistan 64 for 9 (Afridi 20*, Ellis 3-9, Bartlett 3-13) by 29 runs
