South Africa a sniff win after Elgar defiance: 2nd Test, Day 3 (J?borg)

Skipper Dean Elgar took a few blows on the body and head but remained resolute to edge South Africa closer to a win over India at New Wanderers.

Chasing 240 runs to level the series, Elgar remained unbeaten 46 off 121 balls. South Africa need another 122 for the win.

Earlier, India resuming on 85-2 were bowled out for 266.

South Africa 229 and 118 for 2 (Elgar 46*, Markram 31, Ashwin 1-14) need 122 runs to beat India 202 and 266 (Rahane 58, Ngidi 3-43, Jansen 3-67).
