England team leave for 1920/21 Ashes series in Australia

Description:
MCG

The Melbourne Cricket Ground is steeped in history and was opened in 1853. It hosts the Melbourne Cricket Club.

The MCG was the venue for the first-ever Test match in 1877. It also hosted the 1992 and 2015 World Cup finals and the 1956 Olympic Games.

The world’s first one-day international cricket match was played at the MCG on January 5, 1971 between Australia and England. This was a hastily arranged match after the Test match was wiped out due to rain.

A world record crowd of 93,013 watched the 2015 Cricket World Cup Final when Australia downed New Zealand.
