Born in 1934 in Kabul, Afghanistan and raised in India, Durani was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm orthodox spinner who played Tests for India between 1960 and 1973.

Durani played a pivotal role in India’s historic Test series win against England in 1961-62, taking crucial wickets of top batsmen like Ted Dexter and Ken Barrington.
He represented India in 29 Tests, scoring 1202 runs and taking 75 wickets.
