Player profile:
More, Kiran Shankar

Kiran More, born on 4 September 1962 in Baroda, was India’s first-choice wicketkeeper through the late 1980s and early 1990s, known for his agility and sharp reflexes behind the stumps.

A right-handed batsman, he played 49 Tests, scoring 1,285 runs at 25.70 with seven half-centuries, while effecting 130 dismissals (110 catches, 20 stumpings).

In 94 ODIs, he added 563 runs and contributed 90 dismissals, excelling particularly in quick stumpings against spinners. His international breakthrough came on the 1986 England tour, where he impressed with reliable glovework in swinging conditions.

Though his batting at the highest level was modest, he was far more productive in domestic cricket for Baroda, amassing 5,223 runs at 33.73 with nine centuries in 151 first-class matches.

After retirement, More served as Chairman of Selectors (2002–2006), most notably backing a young MS Dhoni, a decision that reshaped Indian cricket.
