
Dominic John Thornely (born 1 October 1978 in Albury, New South Wales) is an Australian former first-class cricketer known for his hard-hitting batting style and useful part-time bowling.
During his career, Thornely represented New South Wales in Australia’s domestic circuit, and played overseas stints for English counties such as Surrey and Hampshire, as well as a season with Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
As a batsman, he was consistent in first-class cricket, scoring over 5,000 runs at an average above 40, including 10 centuries, with a highest score of 261*. He could also bowl occasional medium pace or off-spin and picked up useful wickets in various domestic formats.
After his playing career, Thornely moved into coaching. He was head coach of the NSW Breakers, the New South Wales women’s team, before stepping into roles in the male pathways of Cricket NSW.
