1921: Armstrong leads Australia to 5-0 thumping of England (Sydney)

In the 5th Test at Sydney in the 1920–21, Ashes, Australia completed a dominant 5–0 series whitewash over England.

Herbie Collins’s brilliant century and Warwick Armstrong’s steady 64 guided Australia to a commanding first-innings total of 499, putting immense pressure on the touring side.

England fought back, with Phil Mead scoring a resilient 182*, but the Australians’ fast bowlers, Jack Gregory and Ted McDonald, consistently picked up wickets to restrict England to 274 in the second innings.

Chasing a modest target, Australia’s openers reached 57/1 to secure a nine-wicket victory, capping a series that highlighted Australia’s all-round superiority and Armstrong’s masterful leadership.
