Crucial Carey century anchors Australia's fightback (Adelaide)

Wicketkeeper Alex Carey lit up Day 1 of the Adelaide Test with a superb century, scoring a composed 106 to rescue Australia after early wickets in the third Ashes Test against England.

Batting on his home ground, Carey combined patience with timely aggression to anchor the lower order and lift Australia to a strong 326/8 at stumps, with valuable support from Usman Khawaja earlier in the innings.

His maiden Ashes hundred not only shifted the momentum firmly Australia’s way but also put England’s bowlers under pressure heading into Day 2.
