Mehidy delivers after Awais debut century: 1st Test, Day 3 (Mirpur)

Bangladesh finished Day 3 of the 1st Test in Mirpur holding a narrow advantage after Pakistan were bowled out for 386 in reply to the hosts’ first-innings 413.

Resuming strongly at 179/1, Pakistan were anchored by a superb century on debut from Azan Awais, while Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha kept the visitors in contention through the middle session. However, Bangladesh fought back effectively through Mehidy Hasan Miraz, whose five-wicket haul helped prevent Pakistan from taking a lead.

By stumps, Bangladesh had moved to 7/0 in their second innings, extending their overall lead to 34 runs heading into Day 4

Bangladesh 413 and 7 for 0 (Mahmudul 2*) lead Pakistan 386 (Awais 103, Fazal 60, Mehidy 5-102, Taijul 2-46) by 34 runs.
