Spinners Adam Zampa and Joel Davies took advantage of the conditions as Australia opened the T20I series with a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Bangladesh in Chattogram.
After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh struggled for fluency and were bowled out for 131 in 19 overs. Mahedi Hasan top-scored with 29, while Saif Hassan made 20, but regular wickets prevented the hosts from building any significant partnerships.
Australia’s bowlers were outstanding, with Joel Davies claiming 3/17 on debut and Adam Zampa taking 3/18 to restrict Bangladesh to a below-par total.
In reply, Australia chased down the target with 10 balls to spare, finishing on 133/6 in 18.2 overs. Cooper Connolly led the way with a composed 47, while Tim David added a useful 20 during the middle overs.
Bangladesh fought back through debutant Abdul Gaffar Saqlain, who picked up two wickets, but Australia maintained control of the chase to secure a four-wicket win and take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Australia 133 for 6 (Connolly 47, David 20, Saqlain 2-32) beat Bangladesh 131 (Mahedi 29*, Davies 3-17, Zampa 3-18) by four wickets.
