NZ seal famous series win over England as Stokes era ends: 3rd Test, Day 5 (Nottingham)

New Zealand completed a memorable 160-run victory over England on the fifth day of the third Test at Trent Bridge to secure a 2-1 series triumph.

Chasing 373 for victory, England resumed on 103-4 but lost wickets regularly as the Black Caps maintained control throughout the morning session. Joe Root was unable to convert his overnight start, while Jamie Smith offered resistance with a fighting half-century before England were eventually dismissed for 212.

The victory gave New Zealand a deserved series success after outstanding performances throughout the match. Tom Latham and Devon Conway laid the foundation with a record opening partnership in the first innings, while Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten century and Rachin Ravindra’s 94 helped set England a daunting target.

The defeat also marked the end of Ben Stokes’ Test career, with the England captain bowing out in his final appearance as New Zealand celebrated a memorable triumph on English soil.

New Zealand 438 and 288 for 9 dec (Mitchell 100*, Ravindra 94) beat England 354 and 212 (Smith 60, Foulkes 3-52) by 160 runs.
