Bumrah smashes Broad for record 35 runs in an over (Edgbaston)

Edgbaston 5th Test, Day 2: Record-Breaking Bumrah Puts India Firmly in Control.

India seized complete control of the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston after stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah produced one of the most astonishing cameos in cricket history. Bumrah smashed Stuart Broad for a record-breaking 35 runs in a single over—the most ever scored in a Test over—propelling India to a formidable first-innings total of 416.

This spectacular finish capped off a brilliant rescue act initially staged by Rishabh Pant (146) and Ravindra Jadeja (104), whose magnificent partnership completely turned the tide after early top-order stumbles.

Bumrah then carried that momentum directly into his primary role, tearing through England's top order to dismiss Alex Lees, Zak Crawley, and Ollie Pope. Supported by clinical spells from Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, the Indian attack dismantled the hosts to leave them reeling at 84/5 at stumps.

With Joe Root among the late casualties, England still trail by a massive 332 runs, leaving Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes a monumental rebuilding job heading into Day 3.
