Shafique, Babar pummel Windies, puts Pakistan in charge: 2nd Test, Day 2 (Trinidad)

Abdullah Shafique stroked sixth Test century as Pakistan posted a strong reply to West Indies on day two of the second Test in Trinidad.

West Indies were bowled out for 344 on Day 2, with Justin Greaves (73) and captain Roston Chase (70) providing the backbone after Pakistan had made early inroads. Sajid Khan was Pakistan’s most successful bowler with 4/85, while Ali Usman, Ubaid Shah and Mohammad Ali took two wickets each.

Pakistan then made excellent progress in reply, reaching 266/2 at stumps, just 78 runs behind. Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam were unbeaten at the close after building a substantial partnership, putting Pakistan in a strong position.

Pakistan 266 for 2 (Shafique 107*, Babar 86*) trail West Indies 344 all out (Greaves 73, Chase 70, Sajid 4-85) by 78 runs.
