Ashwin grabs 300th victim, India thrash SL by innings: 2nd Test, Day 4 (Nagpur)

Ravichandran Ashwin reached 300 Test wickets in record time as India beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 239-runs to go 1-0 up in the 3 Test series.

Ashwin became the fastest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets, taking 54 matches to reach the mark - overtaking Dennis Lillee who achieved the feat in his 56th Test.

Captain Dinesh Chandimal (61) showed lone resistance as the sorry tourists folded tamely.

India 610 for 6 dec. (Kohli 213, Pujara 143, Vijay 128, Rohit 102*) beat Sri Lanka 205 (Chandimal 57, Karunaratne 51, Ashwin 4-67, Ishant 3-37, Jadeja 3-56) and 166 (Chandimal 61, Ashwin 4-63) by an innings and 239 runs.
