Root, Archer star as England dominate Windies: 2019 WC #19 (Rose Bowl)

Joe Root struck a sublime century as England crushed the West Indies to got them closer to a World Cup semi-finals berth.

Injuries to Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy in the field spoilt England’s day. England dismissed West Indies for only 212 thanks to the hostility of pace pair Jofra Archer and Mark Wood, who took three wickets each.

In reply, Root added 95 for the first wicket with Jonny Bairstow, then 104 with Chris Woakes, as England won by eight wickets with 16.5 overs to spare.

England 213 for 2 (Root 100*, Bairstow 45) beat West Indies 212 (Pooran 63, Wood 3-18, Archer 3-30) by eight wickets.
