Mitchell smashes Pakistan for century on debut: 2nd Test, Day 3 (Christchurch)

Debutant Daryl Mitchell scored his maiden Test hundred as New Zealand captain Kane Williamson declared the innings on 659/6 with a lead of 362 runs against Pakistan.

Williamson scored another double hundred as Pakistan bowlers failed to contain him. Nicholls posted 157 despite a calf injury.

When Williamson (238) finally departed, the skipper delayed the declaration until after Mitchell got to his hundred.

Pakistan 297 and 8 for 1 (Abid 7*, Abbas 1*, Jamieson 1-1) trail New Zealand 659 for 6 decl (Williamson 237, Nicholls 157, Mitchell 102*) by 354 runs.
