England dominate Windies as Smith piles on the pain: 1st Test, Day 2 (Lords)

Jamie Smith become the second debutant in England's revamped Test side to shine when he thrashed the West Indies attack to leave England with a 250 run first innings lead.

Harry Brook (50) and Joe Root (68) extended England's overnight lead of 68 to 133. Wicket keeepr batsman Smith, chosen ahead of Bairstow and Foukes, then struck 2 sixers and 8 fours in a sparkling 70 as England posted 371.

James Anderson, opening the attack for the last time in his record-breaking England career, bowled the West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite and returned to have Alick Athanaze caught behind.

The West Indies were tottering at 79-6 at the close, still 171 short of making England bat again.

West Indies 121 (Atkinson 7-45) & 79-6 (Anderson 2-11) trail England 371 (Crawley 76, Smith 70, Root 68; Seales 4-77) by 171 runs.
