Salt: Parachuted in, winner of T20 WorldCup

Salt, Phillip D

Phil Salt was born on 28 August 1996 in North Wales. As a youngster, Salt moved with his family to Barbados.

He is an aggressive right handed opening batsman and occasional wicket keeper  who made his first class debut for Lancashire in 2016. He made his international debut when he was selected in the T20 against Pakistan at Cardiff in July 2021.

Salt was a member of England's winning T20 World Cup team in 2022. He was parachuted into the business end of the tournament as a result of an injury to Dawid Malan and played the semi-final and final.

In December 2023, Salt slammed successive hundreds in the T20 series in the West Indies. He posted brilliant back-to-back centuries at the top of the order - 109 not out off 56 balls and 119 off 57. The latter century was England’s then highest ever individual score in T20 cricket.
