Matthew David Fisher (born 9 November 1997) is an English fast bowler whose career has been marked by both exceptional talent and remarkable resilience. Born in York, North Yorkshire, Fisher made headlines as a teenager when he became Yorkshire’s youngest competitive player in almost 100 years.

A right-arm fast-medium bowler blessed with natural pace, bounce and the ability to move the ball off the seam, he quickly established himself as one of England’s most highly regarded young bowling prospects and represented his country at various age-group levels.

Despite his obvious talent, Fisher’s progress was repeatedly hampered by injuries, including setbacks involving his shoulder, back and hamstring. These interruptions limited his opportunities during key stages of his development, yet he consistently demonstrated his quality whenever fit. His performances for Yorkshire County Cricket Club earned widespread praise, and his perseverance was rewarded with a Test debut for England cricket team against the West Indies cricket team in 2022.
