Andrew Balbirnie was the star as Ireland opened their home summer with an 124-run trouncing of the West Indies at Castle Avenue.
Balbirnie’s century, his first on home soil since 2021, spearheaded a first innings effort of 303-6. Balbirnie (112 from 138 balls) shared a 109-run opening stand with captain Paul Stirling (54 off 64 balls).
In reply, the Windies crumbled to 31-5. They rallied briefly with a 98-run seventh wicket stand between Roston Chase (55) and Matthew Forde (38) before folding for 179.
Ireland 303 for 6 (Balbirnie 112, Tector 56, Stirling 54, Forde 3-68) beat West Indies 179 (Chase 55, Forde 38, B McCarthy 4-32, Dockrell 3-21) by 124 runs.
