SL dominate Windies after brilliant Udara century: 2nd Test, Day 1 (Antigua)

Opener Lahiru Udara stroked a brilliant century as Sri Lanka enjoyed an excellent first day in the second Test against West Indies, reaching 338/5 after choosing to bat at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.

Udara was the standout performer, posting a superb 188 after anchoring the innings from the outset. He shared a decisive 171-run partnership with Kamindu Mendis, whose fluent 84 helped Sri Lanka recover from the early losses of Nishan Madushka and Dinesh Chandimal.

West Indies struck back in the final session to keep themselves in the contest, with Jayden Seales and Justin Greaves claiming important wickets after Sri Lanka had threatened an even bigger total.

The hosts will look to wrap up the innings quickly on day two, but Sri Lanka remain firmly in control with Udara still at the crease and well placed to record a maiden Test double century.

Sri Lanka 338 for 5 (Udara 188, Kamindu 84, Shamar 2-60) vs West Indies.
