Henry, Young shine in crushing win over SL: 1st ODI (Wellington)

Matt Henry claimed four wickets and Will Young scored an unbeaten 90 as New Zealand cruised to a nine-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI at Wellington.

Paceman Henry took 4-19 to overpower the SL top order. Janith Liyanage and Avishka Fernando stitched a vital 87-run partnership to stabilize the innings. SL eventually made 178 all out.

New Zealand came out all guns blazing with a 93-run opening partnership between Rachin Ravindra (45) and Young. The home team won by 9 wickets.

New Zealand 180 for 1 (Young 90*, Ravindra 45, Wickramasinghe 1-28) beat Sri Lanka 178 (Avishka 56, Liyanage 36, Henry 4-19) by nine wickets.
