Muthusamy’s maiden ton dents India, has South Africa in charge: 2nd Test, Day 2 ...

South Africa tightened their grip on the 2nd Test on Day 2, powered by Senuran Muthusamy’s maiden Test century and a crucial lower-order stand with Marco Jansen.

Resuming on 25*, Muthusamy batted with discipline to reach 109, while Jansen added a fluent 93, stretching India’s attack.

Earlier, India had some success through Jadeja, who removed Verreynne. South Africa’s strong lower-order resistance had given them a commanding 489 all out and placed India under pressure heading into Day 3.

India 9 for 0 (Jaiswal 7*, Rahul 2*) trail South Africa 489 (Muthusamy 109, Jansen 93, Kuldeep 4-115) by 480 runs.
