Latham, Ravindra hundreds crush Windies: 1st Test, Day 3 (Christchurch)

New Zealand seized full control of the first Test against West Indies on Day 3 in Christchurch, thanks to commanding centuries from Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra.

Latham anchored the innings with a gritty 145 off 250 balls, while Ravindra exploded at the other end with a flamboyant 176 off 185 deliveries — the two combining for a massive 279-run third-wicket stand.

By stumps, New Zealand were 417/4 in their second innings, giving them a huge lead of 481 over the West Indies.

With two days remaining and the tourists staring at an unlikely chase, the hosts are firmly in the driver’s seat — the tone for the rest of the match was set decisively on Day 3.

New Zealand 231 and 417 for 4 (Ravindra 176, Latham 145, Roach 2-61) lead West Indies 167 by 481 runs.
