Late Jacks blitz inspires England win over Italy: T20 World Cup No 29 (Kolkata)

England defeated Italy by 24 runs in their Group C clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

England posted 202/7 in 20 overs, powered by a blistering 53 off 22 balls from Will Jacks, while Tom Banton (30) and Phil Salt (28) chipped in after a mid-innings wobble. Italy’s bowlers kept striking through the middle overs, but England’s late surge pushed the total past the 200 mark.

Italy replied with a spirited 178 all out in 20 overs, highlighted by Ben Manenti’s 60 and Grant Stewart’s 45, keeping the chase alive deep into the innings. However, England’s attack closed it out effectively, with Sam Curran returning 3/22 and Jamie Overton 3/18, sealing an important win that strengthened England’s position in the group standings.

England 202 for 7 (Jacks 53*, Banton 30) beat Italy (B Manenti 60, Stewart 45, J Mosca 43, Overton 3-18, Curran 3-22) by 24 runs
