Bennett inspires stunning Zimbabwe win as SL implode: T20 World Cup No 38 (RPS)

Zimbabwe pulled off a stunning victory over Sri Lanka in their Group B clash at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Batting first, Sri Lanka posted 178/7 in 20 overs, with Pathum Nissanka top-scoring with 62 and support from Pavan Rathnayake (44). Zimbabwe’s bowlers, led by Blessing Muzarabani (3/27) and Brad Evans (2/22), applied consistent pressure to restrict the hosts to a chaseable total.

In reply, Zimbabwe chased the target efficiently with 3 balls to spare, with Brian Bennett scoring 64 and Sikandar Raza contributing a rapid 46. Their measured batting ensured they never trailed, securing a 6-wicket victory and a vital boost in momentum and confidence for their Group B campaign heading into the Super 8s.

Zimbabwe 182 for 4 (Bennett 63*, Raza 45, Hemantha 2-36) beat Sri Lanka 178 for 7 (Nissanka 62, Rathnayake 44, Cremer 2-27, Evans 2-35) by six wickets.
