India crush Afghanistan as Jaiswal trumps Shahidi: 3rd ODI (Chennai)

Yashshvi Jaiswal struck a century as India completed a dominant 3-0 series sweep with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Afghanistan in the third ODI at Chennai.

Afghanistan posted 218 all out in 44.2 overs in the third ODI at Chennai, thanks largely to a determined 102 from 131 balls by captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, who registered his maiden ODI century.

Azmatullah Omarzai provided useful support with 50, but India’s bowlers kept the scoring in check throughout the innings, with Prasidh Krishna producing outstanding figures of 5/23 to restrict the visitors to a modest total.

India chased down the target with ease, reaching 224/1 in 28.4 overs to complete a comprehensive nine-wicket victory and seal a 3-0 series sweep.

Yashasvi Jaiswal starred with an unbeaten 110 from 86 balls, while Rohit Sharma struck 79 from 69 deliveries as the pair shared a commanding opening stand that effectively ended the contest long before the finish.

India 224 for 1 (Jaiswal 110*, Rohit 79, Nabi 1-47) beat Afghanistan 218 (Shahidi 102, Omarzai 50, Prasidh 5-23) by nine wickets.
