Tector guides Ireland to historic series win over India: 2nd T20 (Belfast)

Harry Tector was the star as Ireland completed a historic 2-0 T20I series victory over India after edging the visitors by one run in a thrilling second match at Belfast.

Batting first, Ireland posted 154/8 from their 20 overs, with Harry Tector anchoring the innings with a well-made half-century while Ben Calitz provided valuable support in the middle order.

India’s bowlers kept the scoring under control, with Prince Yadav producing an impressive spell to finish with three wickets and give the tourists a manageable target.

India’s chase got off to a disastrous start as Ireland’s bowlers removed the top order cheaply, leaving the visitors struggling early.

Tilak Varma led the recovery with a fighting half-century, and Harshit Rana’s late hitting brought India within sight of victory, but Ireland held their nerve in the final over to restrict India to 153/9.

The one-run victory secured Ireland’s first-ever bilateral T20I series win over India and marked one of the greatest achievements in Irish cricket history.

Ireland 154 for 8 (Tector 53, Prince 3-22) beat India 153 for 9 (Tilak 55, Hollard 3-26, Moondra 3-32) by one run.
