Starc pace too hot as Aussies rout Bangladesh in 2 days: 2nd Test, Day 2 (Mackay)

Australia completed a dramatic two-day demolition of Bangladesh, sweeping to an innings-and-51-run victory in the second Test at Mackay to level the series 1–1.

Resuming at 165/8, Australia reached 210 thanks to Cameron Green’s 67 and Steve Smith’s 42, despite a stellar 7/48 spell from Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam. That modest lead proved more than enough.

Having already rolled Bangladesh for 64 in their first innings, Australia’s attack dismantled the visitors again for just 95. Mitchell Starc led the charge with 4/39—capping off a sensational 10/51 match haul—while Pat Cummins (3/10) and Nathan Lyon (3/25) offered relentless support.

Unable to handle the extra pace and bounce, Bangladesh folded meekly, with Mushfiqur Rahim’s 29 offering the lone stand of resistance.

Australia 210 (Green 67, Smith 42, Shoriful 7-48) beat Bangladesh 64 (Starc 6-12, Cummins 3-25) and 95 (Shanto 31, Starc 4-39, Cummins 3-10, Lyon 3-25) by an innings and 51 runs.
