Opener Ben Duckett led the way as England ended their losing run with a convincing 55-run victory over Sri Lanka in the sixth ODI of the Pakistan Tri-Nation Series.
Duckett produced a magnificent innings of 167 to anchor England’s imposing total of 386 for five in 50 overs. Tom Banton provided excellent support with 74, helping England maintain a formidable scoring rate and put Sri Lanka under pressure with a challenging target of 387.
Sri Lanka mounted a spirited response, led by Pavan Rathnayake’s superb 118 and Kusal Mendis’s 89, but their efforts ultimately fell short as they were dismissed for 331.
Liam Dawson proved decisive with the ball, claiming four wickets for 49 runs to halt Sri Lanka’s progress and secure England’s victory. Despite the defeat, Rathnayake and Mendis impressed with their batting, while England’s combination of Duckett’s outstanding century and Dawson’s effective bowling ensured a comfortable finish.
England 386 for 5 (Duckett 167, Banton 74) beat Sri Lanka 331 (Rathnayake 118, Mendis 89, Dawson 4-49) by 55 runs.
