Spot fixing fallout: Supreme Court sacks BCCI Chief Thakur
In a shock decision, the Indian Supreme Court today fired Anurag Thakur as Board of Control for Cricket in India President.
The apex court also removed Ajay Shirke from the post of BCCI Secretary. India's Supreme Court ordered the country's cricket board chief to resign for failing to implement reforms and may press a charge of perjury against Thakur.
The Lodha Panel appointed by the Supreme Court had recommended sweeping changes in the BCCI following allegations of spot-fixing and betting in the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
