Sydney Frank Burke was born on 11 March 1934 in Pretoria. He was an allrounder who bowled right arm fast medium and batted right handed.
Burke made his debut against New Zealand in the 3rd Test at Cape Town in 1962 where he bowled 81 overs, taking 11/196 in the match. He played in two Tests in total for South Africa. His first class career spanned 1954-67 where he took 241 wickets at 21.38. He scored 1 century (111) during his first class career.
After retiring, Burke managed the South Africa Universities tour to the UK in 1967.
