Grahame Thomas was born on 21 March 1938 in Croydon Park, Sydney, New South Wales. He is of part Aboriginal extraction.
He was a free scoring right hand batsman who made his Test debut in the West Indies in 1965. He took part in the Ashes series in 1965 and then toured South Africa in 1966-67 but was not selected for any of the Tests.
Thomas scored a career best first class score of 229 versus Victoria in Melb in 1958/59. He was involved in a record stand of 332 for the 6th wicket with Neil Marks against South Australia in Sydney in 1958/59.
Due to a strong batting line up, Thomas could not secure a regular Test berth. He played 8 Tests scoring 325 runs with a highest score of 61. He retired from first-class cricket at the age of 28. He made 5726 runs for NSW in first class cricket at an average of 40.32
