Player profile:
Brevis, Dewald T

Dewald Tobias Brevis was born on 29 April 2003 in Johannesburg. He is a batting all-rounder whose aggressive stroke play has earned him the nickname “Baby AB” for his resemblance to AB de Villiers.

A right-handed batsman and occasional leg-spinner, he burst onto the scene at the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, scoring a record 506 runs in six matches and being named Player of the Tournament.

He has since made his mark in T20 cricket with a blistering 162 off 57 balls—the highest T20 score in South Africa—and debuted internationally in T20Is in 2023, followed by his Test debut against Zimbabwe in June 2025.

He has played for multiple franchises, including Mumbai Indians, MI Cape Town, MI New York, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, and was signed by Chennai Super Kings during the 2025 IPL season. With stints in English county cricket for Hampshire and a growing reputation as a game-changer, Brevis is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in world cricket.
