Player profile:
Azan Awais

Azan Awais is a Pakistani left-handed opening batter regarded as one of the more technically accomplished young players emerging from Pakistan’s domestic system. Born in Sialkot, Punjab, he first drew wider attention through age-group cricket, particularly with Pakistan Under-19 sides, where his patience, compact technique, and ability to build long innings stood out.

He was a key figure in Pakistan’s youth setup during the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup cycle and quickly developed a reputation as a classical top-order batter capable of anchoring an innings in red-ball cricket.

At domestic level, Awais has represented Central Punjab and later regional and departmental sides in Pakistan’s competitive first-class structure. His breakthrough performances came in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, where he compiled heavily against experienced bowling attacks and demonstrated unusual composure for a teenager.

Selectors and analysts have frequently compared his temperament to traditional Pakistani Test openers because of his willingness to bat time rather than rely solely on aggressive strokeplay. While still early in his professional career, he is widely viewed as a long-term prospect for Pakistan’s Test setup if his development continues steadily.
