Inglis trumps Duckett after record chase pips England: 2025 CT No 4 AUS v ENG (Lahore)

Josh Inglis inspired Australia to a record-breaking win over England in their Champions Trophy opener at Lahore.

Opener Ben Duckett (165) took England to 351-8 - the highest score in Champions Trophy history.

In reply, Australia were struggling at 136-4.Inglis put on 146 in 116 balls with Alex Carey to drag his side back into the contest. Inglis posted a career-best 120* (86) that included six sixes. Carey smashed a stylish 69 (63).

This was the highest chase by any nation in ICC tournaments.

Australia 356 for 5 (Inglis 120*, Carey 69, Short 63, Rashid 1-47) beat England 351 for 8 (Duckett 165, Root 68, Dwarshuis 3-66, Labuschagne 2-41, Zampa 2-64) by five wickets.
