Bangladesh shock Aussies at Cardiff

Bangladesh pulled off perhaps the biggest shock ever in oneday cricket with a five wicket victory over world champions Australia.

The win was only Bangladesh's 10th win in 108 oneday internationals. At this point in time, Australia was far and away the No 1 ranked team in the world over a long period of time - and in contrast, Bangladesh was just a minnow just starting out in the ODI game.

Australia 249/5 (50 overs)
 Damien Martyn 77 (112), Michael Clarke 54 (84)
Tapash Baisya 3/69 (10 ov), Mashrafe Mortaza 1/33 (10 ov)

Bangladesh 250/5 (49.2 overs)
 Mohammad Ashraful 100 (101), Habibul Bashar 47 (72)
Jason Gillespie 2/41 (9.2 ov), Michael Kasprowicz 1/40 (10 ov)

Result: Bangladesh won by 5 wickets

Player of the Match: Mohammad Ashraful

Natwest Trophy 18 June 2005 Cardiff.
