Litton Das struck a century as Bangladesh tightened their grip on the one-off Test by declaring their second innings at 372 for 7, setting Afghanistan a formidable target of 479 for victory.

Das led the charge with a superb 102, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz provided valuable support with an unbeaten 52. Their contributions extended Bangladesh’s advantage and left Afghanistan facing an uphill battle to save the match.

Afghanistan made a cautious start to their daunting chase but lost early wickets as Ebadot Hossain dismissed Abdul Malik and Rahmat Shah.

However, Sediqullah Atal, unbeaten on 35, and captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, 19 not out, dug in defensively to guide Afghanistan to 132 for 3 at stumps. With a further 347 runs required on the final day and seven wickets in hand, Afghanistan faced a formidable challenge to avoid defeat.

Afghanistan 240 and 132 for 3 (Sediqullah 35*, Hashmatullah 19*, Ebadot 2-32) need another 347 runs to beat Bangladesh 346 and 372 for 7 (Litton 102, Shanto 82, Mushfiqur 81, Zia 2-86).
