Ahmadzai shines as Afghanistan overcome Zimbabwe: 1st T20 (Sharjah)

Afghanistan took a 1–0 lead in the T20I series against Zimbabwe with a convincing 37-run victory in the first match.

Batting first, Afghanistan were dismissed for 177, with Ahmadzai top-scoring with 52 and Shahidullah contributing 46. Rashid Khan added a valuable 30, while Zimbabwe’s Nyamhuri was the most successful bowler, claiming four wickets for 31 runs.

Zimbabwe were unable to keep pace with the required run rate and were bowled out for 140. Ryan Burl top-scored with 32, but Afghanistan’s bowlers maintained control throughout the innings.

Farooqi led the attack with an impressive three for 13, while Rashid Khan claimed two for 20 to complete a comfortable 37-run victory for Afghanistan.

Afghanistan 177 (Ahmadzai 52, Shahidullah 46, Rashid 30, Nyamhuri 4-31) beat Zimbabwe 140 (Burl 32, Farooqi 3-13, Rashid 2-20) by 37 runs.
