Australia face an uphill battle to win a worldrecord 17th consecutive Test after ending day three in Perth on 65-2 chasing 413 for victory.
Earlier India were in trouble when Stuart Clark 4-61 and Brett Lee 3-54 worked well in tandem to reduce them to 160-6. A late order fighback marshalled by Laxman 79 saw them to relative safety.
